Half Assed Beer Share Board Members
Our Purpose
Beer shares can be intimidating, and we know that. Half Assed Beer Share was created to be inclusive of the community, not exclusive to beer connoisseurs. Our objectives are simple: create a place for folks to share beer, foster a community, and show support for the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild and their network of great breweries and the people who work in them. At our shares, there is no talk of “whales” or “mules,” and the rules are simple – sign up online and bring a 4-pack or bottle from any of the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild breweries. We’re excited to meet you!
Our Origins
We started the Half Assed Beer Share because frankly we enjoy beer. The global pandemic hit every single human on earth hard, everyone's coping mechanism was different. Some chose to sequester themselves, others chose to embrace the wilderness of the quietness of the new world the pandemic created. It got weird out here, but among the dourness that was boiling out of the kettle, a lot of our watering holes were facing an uphill battle. We were facing the very real possibility that a lot of the places we enjoyed were facing a slow, painful extinction process. We knew we had to step up and do something, so we did just that.
In order to support our favorite breweries, we collected lawn chairs and utilized our vehicle trunks as makeshift seats, as we sat in the breweries' parking lots and imbibed. Because the community here is so tight-knit, not getting active wasn’t an option. Simultaneously, Cottle decided to integrate his passion for biking into his passion for beer and took a magnificent tour deforce to a few locations of the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild and enjoyed their libations. We sat down and decided that celebrating the Guilds' dedication to creating and maintaining Pittsburgh’s excellent craft beer scene should happen more frequently than in times of panic. So, we created the “Half Assed Beer Share” a place for our people to come and enjoy each other’s company.
The Pittsburgh Brewers Guild is an excellent resource for all things craft beer in Pittsburgh.
